Life after tubes

Well, since I never did an AFTER for the haircut, I thought I'd do another After. (Of course, I can't do one now since his hair has grown out! but we cut his hair this time, so maybe we can do that). He was sick that day and he remained sick into January, so our time was a bit off. We found out he needed tubes put into his ears, so on Jan. 7th, we took our little boy in for it. He did great and the doctor found it was even more needed than first realized. We had learned that his hearing had temporary losses and we didn't know for how long, but we gathered that his speech and mobility were delayed (not permanently).
Everyone told us it would be night and day afterwords.... and that many kids start walking and talking immediately. I think we got so geared up for it that the day it happened, after he woke up from sleeping off the medication, I think I subconsiously expected he would start having full conversations with me while we walked hand in hand.... and that he would surprise me with a bit of Chinese.... while sprouting wings to fly!

No, seriously, though, I was almost surprised when he didn't start talking right away and you'd better believe, my first prompting word to him when he got out of surgery was "Mama!"

He was obviously hearing better right away and that was apparent. PTL. And here we are exactly a month later and our little boy has started to walk and do other new things... and try out new sounds for sure. So, we are quite thankful.

We have some video, but we are trying to learn our new editing software, so it might take a little bit. We'll try and put some pictures on, though. We have a lot of updating.... like his first birthday!!!! Stay tuned.....
